Sugar prices down on ample supply

Sugar prices declined by Rs 10 to Rs 15 a quintal in the wholesale sugar market here today owing to ample supply from mills amid restricted offtake.

NEW DELHI: Sugar prices declined by Rs 10 to Rs 15 a quintal in the wholesale sugar market here today owing to ample supply from mills amid restricted offtake.

Marketmen said slackness in demand from bulk consumers, mainly pulled down sugar prices.

Mill delivery medium and second grade price decreased from Rs 1,250-1,390 and Rs 1,240-1,380 to close at Rs 1,240-1,375 and Rs 1,230-1,365 a quintal respectively.

Among mill gate section, sugar Modinagar and mawana dipped by Rs 10 each to settle at Rs 1,365 and Rs 1,360 a quintal respectively on poor offtake.

Titabi too slipped to finish at Rs 1,355 a quintal on selling pressure by millers.
