Sugar prices decline on reduced offtake
As the festival season ended, sugar prices eased in the wholesale commodity market on Saturday also attributing to the fall was lower outside advices.
Market men said supply from millers was high while the demand from sweet-makers and soft drink manufacturers declined, with the end of Diwali yesterday.
Sugar ready medium and second grade lost to close at Rs 1500-1575 and Rs 1490-1565 from Rs 1510-1580 and Rs 1500-1575 a quintal respectively.
Mill delivery medium and second grade price also sheded to settle at Rs 1280-1450 and Rs 1270-1440 instead of Rs 1295-1465 and Rs 1285-1255 a quintal respectively.
Among mill gate section, sugar Modinagar dipped by Rs 10 at Rs 1380 a quintal on fall in demand.
Bijnor, ruderavilash and amroha also dropped to close at Rs 1280, Rs 1285 and Rs 1275 a quintal respectively.
