Sugar fell on poor offtake by retailers

NEW DELHI: Sugar prices receded by Rs 50 per quintal in the national capital on Tuesday following reduced offtake by retailers amid stockists selling. Marketmen said, poor demand from retailers as well as outside with selling pressure from stockists, caused the downfall in sugar spot prices.

Sugar ready medium grade prices slipped from Rs 2,975-3,100 to settle at Rs 2,950-3,050 per quintal. Its second grade price also eased by same margins of Rs 50 to Rs 2,940-3,040 from Rs 2,965-3,090 per quintal.

Following are today's rates in Rs per quintal: Sugar ready M-30 2,950-3,050 and S-30 2,940-3,040. Mill delivery M-30 2,780-3,000 and S-30 2,770-2990. Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 3,060, Asmoli 3,070, Mawana 2,980, Titabi 2,970, Thanabhavan 2,950, Budhana 2,960 and Dorala 2,980.
