Sugar down on selling pressure

Prices drifted on the wholesale sugar market here today following persistent selling by millers amid reduced offtake by stockists and bulk consumers.

NEW DELHI: Prices drifted on the wholesale sugar market here today following persistent selling by millers amid reduced offtake by stockists and bulk consumers.

Marketmen said selling by mills amid fall in demand from stockists and local parties mainly pulled sugar prices down. Adequate stocks position too negatively impacted the trading sentiments.

Mill delivery medium and second grade price drifted from Rs 1270-1355 and Rs 1260-1345 to close at Rs 1260-1340 and Rs 1250-1330 a quintal respectively.

Sugar Modi Nagar, Baghpat, Mawana, Khatauli and Badaiu all dropped to settle at Rs 1330, Rs 1305, Rs 1330, Rs 1325 and Rs 1275 a quintal respectively.

Sattha, Ruderavilash, Bijor, Amroha and samali also eased to close at Rs 1270, Rs 1295, Rs 1285, Rs 1290 and Rs 1320 a quintal respectively.
