Steel prices up on better demand

Steel prices firmed up between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000 per tonne in the local iron and steel market on poor supply from furnace triggered by increased buying by stockists and local parties.

NEW DELHI: Steel prices firmed up between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000 per tonne in the local iron and steel market here on Tuesday on poor supply from furnace triggered by increased buying by stockists and local parties.

Marketmen said considerable rise in scrap and poor supply of scrap caused the rise in angle prices.

Higher advices from the finance also influenced the market sentiments to some extent, they added.

Meanwhile, saria prices remained flat today after showing a rise yesterday on fresh buying.
