Steady cotton price trend prevail
Cotton lint prices displayed a steady trend during the second fortnight of last month, despite predictions of higher cotton crop in the coming season according to South India Cotton Association (SICA).
The prices continued its steady trend in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan, where Bengal Deshi variety quoted at Rs 1600 to Rs 1700 and J-34 Saw ginned at Rs 1900 to Rs 2000 per maund spot, Sica, in its market report for the period, said.
With Shankar-6 ruling at Rs 19,500 to Rs 20,500 and V797 Rs 15,000 to Rs 15,300 per candy spot, prices maintained a steady trend in Gujarat.
Rs 19,000 to Rs 20,000 per candy in Madhya Pradesh, which also displayed a steady trend.
Rs 18,000 to Rs 19,500 per candy, depending on staple of 28mm to 28.5mm staple in Maharashtra, while in Andhra Pradesh MCU5 quoted Rs 20,100 to Rs 21,000 per candy spot, indicating a steady tendency.
Lint prices ruled steady in Karnataka, with DCH32 quoting between Rs 31,000 and Rs 31,500 per candy spot.
With cotton arrivals continuing, prices remained steady in Tamil Nadu during the period, SICA said.
