Spice price shows mixed trend

Prices of select spices rose on pick up in demand from stockists and retailers amid restricted supply in the wholesale kirana market.

NEW DELHI: Prices of select spices rose on pick up in demand from stockists and retailers amid restricted supply in the wholesale kirana market on Friday.

Marketmen said restricted supplies against increased demand mainly pushed up select spices.

Black pepper common quoted higher by Rs 100 at Rs 13,200-13,300 a quintal on fresh enquiries.

Cardamom brown jhundiwali edged up to Rs 12,900-13,000 from previous level of Rs 12,700-12,800 a quintal.

Cardamom small followed suit and gained Rs 10 at Rs 300-385 a kilo.

On the other side, zeera common and dollar lacked necessary follow up and softened to Rs 10,400-10,800 and Rs 10,700-10,800 a quintal respectively.

Watermelon kernel eased to Rs 6000-6200 against closing of Rs 6300-6400 a quintal.
