Sharp rise in edible oil prices
Prices of groundnut oil and refined palmolein both firmed up sharply on Saturday on good demand from retailers amidst poor supply from producing centres.

MUMBAI: Prices of groundnut oil and refined palmolein both firmed up sharply on the oils and oilseeds market here on Saturday on good demand from retailers amidst poor supply from producing centres.
Castorseeds bold and its oil also shot up due to renewed demand from shippers and soap manufacturers. Castorseeds futures also moved up on good export enquiries.
In the edible section, groundnut oil hardened by Rs 10 to Rs 695 from Rs 685 previously and refined palmolein also firmed up by Rs 6 to Rs 547 from Rs 541 on Friday.
Turning to the non-edible section, castorseeds bold shot up by Rs 65 to Rs 2,415 from Rs 2,350 previously and castoroil commercial moved up by Rs 3 to Rs 503 from Rs 500. Linseed oil however, continued to trade at Rs 650.
In the futures section, castorseeds April contract resumed higher at Rs 2,312 and firmed up further to Rs 2,320 before closing at Rs 2,310 from Rs 2,307, showing a gain of Rs 3.
