Select pulse prices down on ample supply

Marketmen said increased supply from producing regions triggered by poor buying by stockists and retailers, largely pulled down moong, masoor and arhar dal prices.

NEW DELHI: Prices of dal moong, masoor and arhar dropped in the range of Rs 50 to Rs 150 a quintal in the wholesale pulses market here on Friday following increased arrivals amid slackness in demand.

However, other pulse prices remained steady on sporadic buying.

Marketmen said increased supply from producing regions triggered by poor buying by stockists and retailers, largely pulled down moong, masoor and arhar dal prices.

Moong chilka local and best slipped to finish at Rs 2,600-2,800 and Rs 2,750-3,100 from Rs 2,650-2,900 and Rs 2,800-3,250 a quintal respectively.

Its dhoya local and best too turned weak to Rs 2,750-3,000 and Rs 3,050-3,300 from Rs 2,850-3,100 and Rs 3,150-3,500 a quintal respectively.

Dal masoor local and best traded lower at Rs 3,250-3,400 and Rs 3,450-3,600 instead of Rs 3,350-3,500 and Rs 3,550-3,750 a quintal respectively.

Malka local and best pegged lower at Rs 3,200-3,350 and Rs 3,400-3,600 from Rs 3,250-3,450 and Rs 3,450-3,650 a quintal respectively.

Arhar dal dara and pataka too looked down due to increased supply and traded at Rs 3,100-3,250 and Rs 3,350-3,650 instead of Rs 3,150-3,350 and Rs 3,450-3,650 a quintal respectively.
