Select base metals gain on global cues

MUMBAI: Most of the base metals prices gained at the non-ferrous metal market here today on stockist buying on the back of good industrial demand.

Meanwhile, copper sheet cutting and lead moved down due to lower offtake from industrial users.

The industrial metals edged up at the London Metal Exchange (LME), recovering from this week's 7-month low after the US Federal Reserve reiterated its easy policy stance despite signs of economic recovery.

Tin regained by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 1,425 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 1,420.

Brass sheet cutting moved up by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 334 from Rs 332.

Copper cable scrap, copper armiture, copper wire bar and brass utensil scrap inched-up by a rupee per kg each to Rs 489, Rs 472, Rs 517 and Rs 325, respectively.

However, copper sheet cutting edged down by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 465 as against Rs 467 yesterday.

Lead softened by a rupee per kg to Rs 139.
