India plans to infuse Rs 90 crore to boost coffee consumption by 50 per cent in five years.

BANGALORE: India intends to pump in Rs 90 crore over the next five years to boost consumption of coffee by 50%, Coffee Board chairman G V Krishna Rau said.

The country's consumption of the commodity is between 80,000-85,000 tonne annually.

It grew at a healthy 5.5% in the last five years. "By the end of the 11th plan, our target is to reach 1.2 lakh tonne (domestic consumption). That calls for 8-10% growth annually," Rau said.
