Rice basmati declines on sluggish demand, adequate supply

In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety were down by Rs 300 each to Rs 7,700-7,800.

NEW DELHI: Rice basmati prices drifted on the wholesale grains market today owing to slackened demand against adequate supplies from producing belts.


However, wheat found scattered buying from flour mills and ended higher.

In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety were down by Rs 300 each to Rs 7,700-7,800 and Rs 7,600-8,300 per quintal, respectively.

On the other hand, wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 15 to Rs 1,615-1,620 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher at Rs 1,625-1,630 from previous level of Rs 1,585-1,590 per 90 kg.

Atta flour mills, maida and sooji were also traded higher at Rs 850-870, Rs 910-950 and Rs 950-975 against last close of Rs 815-825, Rs 820-960 and Rs 915-960 per 50 kg, respectively.

Jowar yellow and white also seen in demand and ended higher at Rs 1,650-1,700 and Rs 2,450-2,700 from previous close of Rs 1,600-1,650 and Rs 2,300-2,500 per quintal, respectively.
