Prices of urad, gram dal rise; sugar falls

CHENNAI: The prices of urad dal and gram dal increased while sugar decreased and rest of the commodities remained unchanged today in the wholesale foodgrains market here.

Urad dal rose steeply by Rs 300 per quintal to Rs 6200 from its closing rate of Rs 5900.

Gram dal increased by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 4000 from its rate of Rs 3900.

Sugar marginally declined by Rs 20 per quintal to Rs 3200 from its last rate of Rs 3220.

Tur dal, moong dal, wheat, maida and sooji ruled steady. The following are the wholesale rates of various agri-commodities today (in rupees per quintal, except where stated otherwise): Thoor Dal Rs 7,200 Urad Dal Rs 6,200, Moong Dal Rs 7,600, Gram Dal Rs 4,000 Sugar Rs 3,200, Wheat Rs 2,300,Maida (90 kg) Rs 2,400 and Sooji (90 kg) Rs 2,500.
