Prices of spices ease; Agriwatch Agri Commodities Index dips 0.46%

The Agriwatch Agri Commodities Index dipped 0.46% during the week ended March 12, 2016 to 100.12 from 100.58 during the previous week.

The Agriwatch Agri Commodities Index dipped 0.46% during the week ended March 12, 2016 to 100.12 from 100.58 during the previous week. The base for the Index is 2014 (= 100). Easing cereals, spices and cotton prices led the Index lower. Though the Index declined only 0.46%, there was signifi cant volatility in the sub-indices. The groups which saw high volatility were the Condiments & Spices Index (-8.13% during the week), Fibres Index (-5.25%), Vegetables Index (+4.61%) and Other Non-Food Articles Index (+8.49%). The other groups that declined during the week were the Cereals Index (-1.34%) and Sugar, Gur, Khandsari (Sweeteners) Index (-0.2%). The other gainers were the Pulses Index (+2.16%), Edible Oils Index (+0.77%) and Oilseeds Index (+0.93%). The charts showing the Indices can be viewed on the ET website and on Agriwatch.com.
