Price of major commodities improve

Led by urad dal, prices of major commodities improved and ended with modest gains during the week ended on Saturday on the wholesale foodgrains market in Chennai.

CHENNAI: Led by urad dal, prices of major commodities improved and ended with modest gains during the week ended on Saturday on the wholesale foodgrains market here.

However, gram dal posted marginal losses. Urad dal went up by Rs 150 per quintal to Rs 3,900 from its previous week's rate of Rs 3,750.

Both thoor dal and moong dal moved up by Rs 100 per quintal each to Rs 4,350 and Rs 3,600 from its previous week's rate of Rs 4,250 and Rs 3,500 respectively.

Maida and sooji (90 kgs) rose by Rs 50 each to Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,550.

Sugar edged up by Rs 20 per quintal to Rs 1,500. Gram dal dropped by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 3,150 against previous week's rate of Rs 3,200.

Wheat at Rs 1,500 remained unaltered from their previous week's rates.
