Potato rises in futures trade on restricted arrivals

Supported by restricted supplies from producing regions and rising spot demand, potato prices gained 1.44 per cent to Rs 1,314.90 per quintal in futures market today.

NEW DELHI: Supported by restricted supplies from producing regions and rising spot demand, potato prices gained 1.44 per cent to Rs 1,314.90 per quintal in futures market today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in August moved up by Rs 18.70, or 1.44 per cent, to Rs 1,314.90 per quintal, with a business turnover of 40 lots.

Likewise, the potato for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 17.90, or 1.28 per cent, to Rs 1,413 per quintal, with a business turnover of 10 lots.

Marketmen said besides increased demand in the spot market, thin supplies from producing belts mainly pushed up potato prices at futures trade.
