Potato moves up in futures trade on good demand

Potato prices moved up by Rs 4.70 to Rs 939.50 per quintal in futures trading today on good spot market demand supported by ongoing 'Navratra' festival.

NEW DELHI: Potato prices moved up by Rs 4.70 to Rs 939.50 per quintal in futures trading today on good spot market demand supported by ongoing 'Navratra' festival against limited arrivals from producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in March gained Rs 4.70, or 0.64 per cent, to Rs 739.50 per quintal, with a business turnover of single lot.

The potato for delivery in May also edged up by Rs 4.50, or 0.61 per cent, to Rs 939 per quintal, with a business turnover of two lots.

Marketmen said besides good demand in the spot market for the auspicious 'Navratra' festival, less arrivals from producing belts mainly led to rise in potato futures.
