Potato futures hit upper circuit and the March contract on MCX closed up by over 5% at around Rs 475 per quintal.

MUMBAI: Potato futures hit upper circuit and the March contract on MCX closed up by over 5% at around Rs 475 per quintal. Potato all contracts on MCX registered a turnover of Rs 10.61 crore. MCX registered a turnover of Rs 4,606 crore in first session and bullion turnover was of Rs 2,697 crore.

Gold contracts moved within a range of Rs 42 and Rs 132 per 10 gm and February contract traded up at Rs 10,718 per 10 gm. Silver contracts traded in a range of Rs 47 and Rs 238 per kg. Silver March contract went up at Rs 19,671 per kg.

Copper contracts turnover was Rs 425 crore and February contract was up at Rs 268 per kg. Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 343 crore and January ‘08 contract moved up at Rs 95.45 per kg. Crude oil contracts clocked a turnover of Rs 607 crore and January contract moved up at Rs 3,822 per barrel. NCDEX registered a turnover of Rs 1,821 crore and most of the agro commodities were up. Guar seed recorded a turnover of Rs 200 crore closing up at Rs 1,651 per quintal.

Soya oil closed up at Rs 558.65 per 10 kg posting a turnover of Rs 301 crore while soyabean closed up at Rs 2,033 per quintal registering a turnover of Rs 342 crore. Rape mustard seed closed up at Rs 466 per 20 kg recording a turnover of Rs 274 crore. Sugar also moved up at Rs 1,350 per quintal posting a turnover of Rs 85 crore. Pepper closed up at Rs 13,381 per quintal with a turnover of Rs 128 crore while jeera closed up at Rs 10,670 per quintal posting a turnover of Rs 105 crore.
