Potato gains for third-day on rising demand
NEW DELHI: Potato prices gained for the third straight day by adding 1.05 per cent to Rs 1,323 per quintal in futures market today as traders engaged in enlarging positions, driven by ongoing Navratras festival demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in May advanced by Rs 13.80, or 1.05 per cent, to Rs 1,323 per quintal in a business turnover of 160 lots.

Similarly, potato for delivery in April gained Rs 11.90, or 0.95 per cent, to Rs 1,261.90 per quintal in 64 lots.

Analysts said persistent rise in potato futures was mostly due to an upsurge in demand in the spot markets in view of ongoing "Navratras" festival.
