NEW DELHI: Potato prices moved up by Rs 6.50 to Rs 837 per quintal in futures trading today on rising demand in the spot market, triggered by ongoing marriage season.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in March moved up by Rs 6.50, or 0.78 per cent to Rs 837 per quintal in business turnover of 57 lots.

Likewise, potato for delivery in April traded higher by Rs 6.30, or 0.77 per cent to Rs 826.30 per quintal in 13 lots.

Analysts said besides rising demand in the spot markets due to ongoing marriage season, restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly kept potato prices higher in futures trade.
