NEW DELHI: Potato prices traded higher by Rs 1.50 to Rs 1,025 per quintal in futures trading on Friday due to pick up in demand in the spot market against tight supplies following restricted arrivals from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in May traded higher by Rs 1.50, or 0.15 per cent to Rs 1,025 per quintal in business turnover of 9 lots.

Likewise, the potato for delivery in June edged up by 70 paise, or 0.07 per cent to Rs 1018.50 per quintal in 4 lots.

Market experts said besides pick up in demand in the spot market, tight supplies due to less arrivals from producing region mainly led to rise in potato prices at futures trade.
