Potato futures remain up on rising demand

Potato futures prices today remained higher for the second straight session and added Rs 3.20 to Rs 748.90 per quintal on rising spot demand against limited arrivals from producing belts.

NEW DELHI: Potato futures prices today remained higher for the second straight session and added Rs 3.20 to Rs 748.90 per quintal on rising spot demand against limited arrivals from producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in far-month March added Rs 3.20, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 748.90 per quintal in business turnover of three lots.

The potato for delivery in October traded higher by 80 paise, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 1,066 per quintal in 10 lots.

Experts said apart from rising demand in the spot market, less arrivals from producing belts, mainly led to the rise in potato prices at futures trade.
