Potato prices rose 0.29 per cent to Rs 833.10 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions.

NEW DELHI: Potato prices rose 0.29 per cent to Rs 833.10 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on upsurge in demand.

Besides, fall in arrivals from producing regions in the physical markets also supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in March rose by Rs 2.40, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 833.10 per quintal in business turnover of 40 lots.

Likewise, potato for delivery in April traded higher by Re 1, or 0.02 per cent, to Rs 820.10 per quintal in 23 lots.

Market analysts said fall in arrivals from producing regions, pick-up in demand in the spot market mainly helped potato futures to trade higher.
