Potato futures gain 0.22 pc on spot demand

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in May rose by Rs 1.60, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 722 per quintal in business turnover of 9 lots.

NEW DELHI: In thin trade, potato prices gained 0.22 per cent to Rs 722 per quintal in futures market today as speculators enlarged their positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on pick up in demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in May rose by Rs 1.60, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 722 per quintal in business turnover of 9 lots.

Market analysts said increased buying by speculators on the back of a rise in demand in the spot market following ongoing marriage season mainly led to gain in potato futures.
