Potato futures fall 1.43 pc on increased supply

Potato prices fell by Rs 16.50 to Rs 1,132.80 per quintal in futures trade today on increased supplies from producing belts against lower demand.

NEW DELHI: Potato prices fell by Rs 16.50 to Rs 1,132.80 per quintal in futures trade today on increased supplies from producing belts against lower demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in September fell by Rs 16.50, or 1.43 per cent, to Rs 1,132.80 per quintal, with a business turnover of 10 lots.

The potato for delivery in October also declined by Rs 16.10, or 1.32 per cent, to Rs 1,196.60 per quintal, with a business turnover of 32 lots.

Experts said increased supplies from producing belts in the spot markets against lower demand mainly kept pressure on potato futures.
