Potato futures fall 1.22 per cent on fresh arrivals

Potato prices fell by 1.22% to Rs 1,327.80 per quintal in futures trading today as traders offloaded positions due to low demand in the spot market.

NEW DELHI: Potato prices fell by 1.22 per cent to Rs 1,327.80 per quintal in futures trading today as traders offloaded positions due to low demand in the spot market amid fresh arrivals from producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in August fell by Rs 16.20, or 1.22 per cent, to Rs 1,327.80 per quintal, with a business turnover of 15 lots.

The potato for delivery in September declined by Rs 17, or 1.20 per cent, to Rs 1,399 per quintal in 24 lots.

Market experts said traders offloaded their positions due to low demand in the spot market against fresh arrivals from producing belts put pressure on potato futures.
