Potato futures down on profit-bookings

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in April declined by Rs 2.80, or 0.39 per cent to Rs 718.10 per quintal.

NEW DELHI: Potato prices declined by Rs 2.80 to Rs 718.10 per quintal in futures market today as traders booked profits, driven by a sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in April declined by Rs 2.80, or 0.39 per cent to Rs 718.10 per quintal in business turnover of 3 lots.

The potato for delivery in March also traded lower by 20 paise, or 0.03 per cent to Rs 763.10 per quintal in 46 lots.

Market analysts said profit-booking by participants amid fall in demand in the spot market, mainly kept pressure on potato futures.
