Pepper up on global cues

MUMBAI: In domestic futures, turnover on MCX in the first session up to 5 pm was Rs 3,112.8 crore, down 5.3% from turnover in the corresponding session of the previous day. Bullion turnover was Rs 845.34 crore. Gold contracts, including gold mini, fell by Rs 34 and gained Rs 17 per 10 gm.

Gold October contract was down 0.2% at Rs 9,037 per 10 gm. Silver contracts, including silver mini, fell between Rs 45 and Rs 57 per kg.

The September contract declined 0.27% at Rs 16,725 per kg. In the base metals segment, copper contracts turnover was Rs 716.92 crore. November delivery contract was up 0.65% at Rs 301 per kg. Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 494.23 crore. Zinc September contract was up 0.2% at Rs 123.5 per kg.

Turnover of all nickel contracts was Rs 259.32 crore. Turnover of all lead contracts was Rs 323.56 crore. Spices were up on Wednesday on NCDEX. Pepper was up as international market was up while chilli prices moved up as spot market was up.
NCDEX registered a turnover of Rs 2,793 crore with active trade in chana, guar seed, gold, pepper, jeera, soya bean, soya oil and rape mustard seed.

Pepper recorded a turnover of Rs 420 crore and September contract closed up at Rs 12,706 per quintal. Guar seed posted a turnover of Rs 754 crore and the September contract closed down at Rs 1,787 per quintal. Chana closed up at Rs 2,265 per quintal and posted a turnover of Rs 216 crore. Refined soy oil posted a turnover of Rs 202 crore closing up at Rs 482 crore while rape mustard seed was flat registering a turnover of Rs 185 crore.

Soya bean posted a turnover of Rs 326 crore while gold recorded a turnover of Rs 230 crore.
