Pepper, turmeric slip on sluggish demand

Pepper and turmeric prices slipped up to Rs 200 each per quintal in the national capital on Saturday on sluggish demand from stockists and exporters against fresh arrivals from producing regions.


NEW DELHI: Pepper and turmeric prices slipped up to Rs 200 each per quintal in the national capital on Saturday on sluggish demand from stockists and exporters against fresh arrivals from producing regions.

Pepper prices dipped by Rs 200 at Rs 15,300-15,400 per quintal on sluggish demand from exporters.

Turmeric prices also traded lower at Rs 4,800-6,100 against Rs 5,000-6,300 per quintal.

Marketmen said heavy selling by stockists and speculators against fresh arrivals from producing regions mainly led to a fall in pepper and turmeric prices at the wholesale kirana market here.

Following were today's quotations (in Rs per quintal): Ajwain 5,700-8,500, pepper common 15,300-15,400 Betelnut (kg) 95-105, cardamom brown (Jhundiwali)15,000-15,100 and cardamom brown (Kanchicut) 17,000-20,000.
