Pepper futures fall on profit-booking

Pepper prices fell by Rs 415 to Rs 38,390 per quintal in futures trading today today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels.

NEW DELHI: Pepper prices fell by Rs 415 to Rs 38,390 per quintal in futures trading today today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels, driven by weak a export demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, pepper for delivery in June fell by Rs 415, or 1.17 per cent, to Rs 38,390 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,897 lots.

In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in July declined by Rs 250, or 0.64 per cent, to Rs 38,520 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,852 lots.

Analysts said speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels supported by a weak export demand, which mainly kept pressure on pepper prices at futures trade.
