NEW DELHI: The Centre doesnt have any immediate plan to ban cotton exports, food and agriculture minister Sharad Pawar said here on Wednesday. Asked if there is any plan to restrict cotton export, the minister quipped, not immediately.

Textile commissioner JN Singh had on Tuesday ruled out imposing any ban or quantitative restrictions on cotton exports to bring down the prices in the domestic market. Mr Singh, however, admitted that the government was earlier considering to curb cotton exports.

Mr Pawar also assured of adopting a realistic approach towards lifting ban on futures trading of some farm commodities.
