Oilmeals exports rise by 93 pc in Dec
India's oilmeals exports jumped by 93 per cent to 7.66 lakh tonnes during last month on the back of sharp rise in soyameal shipments.
"The export during December 2010 is reported at 7,65,954 tonnes compared to 3,95,663 tonnes in December 2009, up by 93 per cent," Solvent Extractors' Association of India today said in a statement. The export of soyabean meal in December 2010 jumped to 6.11 lakh tonnes from 3.28 lakh tonnes as compared to the year-ago period, it added.
The overall export of oilmeals for April-December period of this fiscal rose by 38 per cent 31.47 lakh tonnes against 22.86 lakh tonnes. The exports were down by 13 per cent in the first quarter of this fiscal, but it recovered in the second quarter and posted an increased of 36 per cent.
In the third quarter, oilmeals exports increased mainly due to recovery in exports of soyameal exports coupled with good crushing margin and better oil prices, SEA noted.
India exports oilmeals to Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, China and Thailand among other countries.
