Non-basmati rice up on retailers buying

The wholesale prices of non-basmati rice and barley rose up to Rs 50 per quintal in the national capital today on increased demand from retailers.

NEW DELHI: The wholesale prices of non-basmati rice and barley rose up to Rs 50 per quintal in the national capital today on increased demand from retailers.

In the rice section, non-basmati IR-8 and Permal raw prices were up by Rs 50 each at Rs 1320-1445 and Rs 1440-1570 per quintal respectively.

Traders said emergence of buying retailers mainly pushed rice prices higher.

Barley (UP) prices rose by Rs 10 at RS 1220-1250 per quintal on increased demand from beer makers.

Meanwhile, prices of wheat MP (deshi) at Rs 1350-1550 per quintal and wheat dara were flat at Rs 1075-1125 per quintal despite foodgrain prices in global markets dipped to 9-month low.
