Soybean futures jump nearly 1% as traders take fresh positions

On NCDEX, soybean for the May delivery rose by Rs 62 to Rs 7,169 per quintal.

NEW DELHI: Soybean prices on Monday went up by Rs 62 to Rs 7,169 per quintal in the futures market as traders created fresh positions tracking positive spot demand.

On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, soybean for the May delivery rose Rs 62, or 0.87 per cent, to Rs 7,169 per quintal with an open interest of 59,980 lots.

Marketmen said raising of fresh positions by speculators on the back of higher demand mainly led to the rise in soybean prices.
