Silver futures up on spot demand

Analysts said the rise in silver prices was mostly due to fresh positions built up by participants on a positive domestic trend.

Silver prices on Tuesday rose by Rs 962 to Rs 61,184 per kg in futures trade as participants widened their bets on firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for March delivery gained Rs 962, or 1.6 per cent, to Rs 61,184 per kg in 11,040 lots.

Analysts said the rise in silver prices was mostly due to fresh positions built up by participants on a positive domestic trend.


In the international market, silver was trading 2.58 per cent higher at USD 23.18 per ounce in New York.
