Nickel strengthens on uptick in demand

Traders said increased demand from alloy-makers at domestic spot market mainly helped nickel prices to trade higher.

NEW DELHI: Nickel prices firmed up by by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today on pick up in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market.

However, other base metals moved in a narrow range in scattered deals and settled around previous levels.

Traders said increased demand from alloy-makers at domestic spot market mainly helped nickel prices to trade higher.

In the national capital, nickel plate (4x4) rose by Rs 2 to 847-852 per kg.

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 109-115, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 847-852, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 378, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 95, lead imported Rs 101, aluminium ingots Rs 156, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 152, aluminium wire scrap Rs 152 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 150.
