Mentha oil futures gain weight

NEW DELHI: Mentha oil prices went up in futures market on Tuesday.

MCX Mentha futures were up by Rs 6.20, or 0.41 per cent, at Rs 1,540 at around 11.04 am.

Mentha oil output has been steady to lower in the past few years. But in response to decent appreciation last year, the price of farmers' sowing improved, resulting in higher production this year, says Anuj Gupta, Deputy Vice President, Research, Angel Broking.

Additionally, natural menthol has cooling and soothing effect on skin and mucous membrane of the human body, making it a useful ingredient in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics industry.
