Lead futures up on positive overseas cues; spot demand

Besides strong domestic demand from battery makers, strength in select base metals at the London Metal Exchange, influenced lead prices at futures trade.

NEW DELHI: Taking positive cues from global market and rising demand at spot markets, lead prices were up 0.30 per cent in futures trade today.

Lead for delivery in current month traded higher by 35 paise, or 0.30 per cent, at Rs 116.50 per kg, with a turnover of 244 lots in futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange.

Metal for delivery in July rose by 15 paise, or 0.13 per cent, to Rs 116.90 per kg, in a business turnover of four lots.

Analysts said besides strong domestic demand from battery makers, strength in select base metals at the London Metal Exchange ( LME), influenced lead prices at futures trade.
