Gold Rate Today: Gold, silver gain big in morning deals

NEW DELHI: Precious metals gold and silver were trading in the positive territory in the morning deals on Monday.
MCX Gold futures were trading 0.50 per cent, or Rs 156 higher at Rs 31,270 per 10 grams at 10:57 am (IST), while MCX Silver futures were up 0.74 per cent, or Rs 296, at Rs 40,030 per 1 kg at the same time.
SPDR Gold Trust GLD, the world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, said its holdings stood at 864.13 down 1.47 tonnes, from the previous business day.
Holdings of the largest silver-backed exchange-traded-fund (ETF), New York's iShares Silver Trust SLV, stood at 10,083.92 up 38.07 tonnes, from the previous business day.
On the global front, gold prices edged up in early trade on Monday as the dollar took a breather after climbing to its highest level this year in the previous session.
