Silver, too, came off day's high of Rs 38,479 and traded at Rs 38,352 per kg, up by Rs 37, around the same time.
In the international market, gold prices skidded as strengthening US dollar in the wake of a renewed trade war between the US and China lured investors away.
A Bloomberg report suggested the US was preparing to announce tariffs on all remaining Chinese imports by early December which gave fresh jitters to stock markets and pushed participants away from riskier assets.
