In the domestic market, MCX gold futures with December expiry gained Rs 557 to rise to Rs 1,49,660 per 10 grams. The gold futures with February 2027 expiry, meanwhile, increased by Rs 705 to Rs 1,51,880 per 10 grams.

Gold prices rose in the international market as well, helping the precious metal recover from a two-month low. Spot gold gained 0.5% to rise to $4,133 per ounce in the early trading hours. This comes a day after bullion prices touched their lowest level since August 5 as a firmer dollar and higher US Treasury yields weighed on the market. US gold futures with December expiry gained 0.4% to $4,158. Today’s drop in dollar boosted demand for the American greenback-priced gold, which becomes cheaper for buyers using other currencies.

Fed policymakers were divided last month over the rationale behind raising interest rates, with some participants seeing a hike as necessary to keep the impact of energy and other price shocks at bay, but a more hawkish core viewing it as necessary to guard against emerging demand-driven inflation, minutes showed.
While traders see only an 18% chance of a rate hike later this month, they are pricing in an 80% chance of an increase in December, according to CME's FedWatch tool. Higher rates lower the appeal of non-yielding gold.
What lies ahead for gold prices?
Elevated yields are weighing on bullion investment demand, with institutional investors likely to prefer yield-bearing bonds for liquidity allocation over non-yielding assets, said Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst of Commodity and Currency at LKP Securities. He noted that continued dollar strength and higher yields could keep pressure on prices, with the range between Rs 1,48,000 and Rs 1,50,000 going ahead.Gold rates in physical markets
