Crude oil futures rise on spot demand

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for the July delivery traded higher by Rs 37, or 0.67 per cent, to Rs 5,534 per barrel in 5,562 lots.

NEW DELHI: Crude oil prices rose Rs 37 to Rs 5,534 per barrel on Wednesday, as participants widened their positions on a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for the July delivery traded higher by Rs 37, or 0.67 per cent, to Rs 5,534 per barrel in 5,562 lots.

Analysts said raising of bets by participants kept crude oil prices higher in the futures trade.


Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude oil fell 1.04 per cent to USD 74.13 per barrel, while Brent crude traded 0.87 per cent higher at USD 75.18 per barrel in New York.
