Agriwatch: Onion prices up

The Onion Index (+21.93) registered another sharp weekly gain.

Eight of the nine commodity group sub-Indices and 19 of the 29 individual commodity sub-Indices ended the week higher.
The Agriwatch Agri Commodities Index rose 1.06 per cent to 110.99 during the week ended Oct 27, 2018 from 109.83 amid a broad-based rally in prices of agricultural commodities.

The Onion Index (+21.93) registered another sharp weekly gain while cotton eased after a big gain last week. The base for the Index and all sub-Indices is 2014 (= 100).

Eight of the nine commodity group sub-Indices and 19 of the 29 individual commodity sub-Indices ended the week higher.


The commodity group sub-Index values and their weekly changes are: Cereals: 117.96 (+1.58 per cent), Pulses: 108.23 (+0.47 per cent), Potato & Onion: 108.81 (+10.66 per cent), Edible Oils: 110.66 (+0.41 per cent), Spices: 118.04 (+3.69 per cent), Sweeteners: 104.61 (+0.04 per cent), Fibres: 115.92 (-1.49 per cent) and Other Non-Food Articles: 89.75 (+0.84 per cent).
