NCDEX turnover at Rs 3,505 cr

On Tuesday, most of the agricommodities hit the lower circuit at close. The NCDEX registered a turnover of Rs 3,505 crore.

MUMBAI: On Tuesday, most of the agricommodities hit the lower circuit at close. The NCDEX registered a turnover of Rs 3,505 crore, with active trade in chana, guarseed, soya oil, soyabean, rape mustard seed.

Chana closed down at Rs 2,742 per quintal, with a turnover of Rs 438 crore; guarseed closed down at Rs 1,871 per quintal, with a turnover of Rs 584 crore and sugar closed down at Rs 1,423 per quintal, with a turnover of Rs 125 crore.

Soya oil closed down at Rs 636 per 10 kg, with a turnover of Rs 763 crore; soyabean closed down at Rs 2,157 per quintal, with a turnover of Rs 319 crore and rape mustard seed closed down at Rs 561 per 20 kg, with a turnover of Rs 555 crore.

Pepper closed down at Rs 14,672 per quintal, with a turnover of Rs 200 crore; jeera closed down at Rs 8,249 per quintal, with a turnover of Rs 116 crore; turmeric closed up at Rs 3,386 per quintal, with a turnover of Rs 141 crore and chilli closed up at Rs 3,879 per quintal, with a turnover of Rs 15 crore.

MCX clocked a total turnover of Rs 6964.30 crore. A mixed trend prevailed in most commodity contracts. Bullion turnover consisted of gold worth Rs 2,638.31 crore and silver clocked a turnover of Rs 1,466.45 crore. Bar gold December contract was down 1.04% at Rs 13,136 per 10 gm and gold August contract was down 0.89% at Rs 13,185 per 10 gm.
Other gold contracts gained marginally.

In silver, too, September contract were down 1.22% at Rs 26,400 per kg and silver for August 2008 contract was down 0.41% at Rs 26,547.

Copper, tin and zinc contracts moved up. The tin April contract rose 1.38% at Rs 842.25 per kg while the lead May 2008 contract shed 2.54% at Rs 116.95 per kg.
Crude oil contracts improved, with a 2.70% gain at Rs 4,229 per barrel in crude oil May contract.
