Mustard seed prices fell by Rs 24 to Rs 3,750 per quintal in futures trade today after speculators booked profits at higher levels.

NEW DELHI: Mustard seed prices fell by Rs 24 to Rs 3,750 per quintal in futures trade today after speculators booked profits at higher levels.

Marketmen said the fall in mustardseed at futures trade was mostly due to profit-booking but firm demand at spot markets on the back of festive season, restricted the fall.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, mustardseed for delivery in far-month April dropped by Rs 24, or 0.64 per cent, to Rs 3,750 per quintal, with an open interest of 4,230 lots.

Similarly, the most-active December contract traded Rs 9, or 0.20 per cent lower, at Rs 4,260 per quintal, having an open interest of 54,230 lots, while November contract moved down by Rs 6, or 0.14 per cent, to Rs 4,199 per quintal, in an open interest of 31,750 lots.
