NEW DELHI: Mustard oil prices shot up by Rs 150 per quintal at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on pick up in demand from local parties to meet seasonal demand.

Linseed oil in the non-edible section also moved up on increased offtake by consuming industries.

Traders said rising demand from local parties against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up mustard oil prices.

They said increased demand from paint industries in view of festive season helped linseed oil prices to trade higher.

In the national capital, mustard expeller (Dadri) oil climbed by Rs 150 to Rs 8,200 per quintal. Mustard pakki and kachi ghani oils were also traded higher by Rs 50 each to Rs 1,445-1,495 and Rs 1,485-1,585 per tin respectively.

Among non-edible oils, linseed oil rose by Rs 50 to Rs 8,850 per quintal on increased demand from paint industries.
