Moong dal declines, other foodgrains move up

CHENNAI: Prices of tur dal, gram dal, sugar, wheat, maida and sooji moved up, while those of moong dal moved down in the wholesale foodgrains market here today.

Tur dal rose by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 7,400 from yesterdays rate of Rs 7,200.

Gram dal, sugar, wheat increased by Rs 100 per quintal each to Rs 5,950, Rs 3,450 and Rs 2,000 from yesterday's rate of Rs 5,850, Rs 3,350 and Rs 1,900, respectively.

In addition, maida (90 kg) and Sooji (90 kg) went up to Rs 1,850 and Rs 2,000 from Rs 1,750 and 1,950, respectively.

In contrast, moong dal declined by Rs 100 to Rs 6,900 from Rs 7,000.

Urad dal price (Rs.5,800) remained unchanged. The following are the wholesale rates of various agri- commodities today (in rupees per quintal, except where stated otherwise): Tur dal Rs 7,400, urad dal Rs 5,800, moong dal Rs 6,900, gram dal Rs 5,950, sugar Rs 3,450, wheat Rs 2,000, maida (90 kg) Rs 1,850, sooji (90 kg) Rs 2,000.
