MMTC invites bids to import 18,000 tons of RBD palmolein

State-run trading firm MMTC invited bids for import of 18,000 tons of RBD palmolein oil, to be delivered between July-August.

NEW DELHI: State-run trading firm MMTC on Friday invited bids for import of 18,000 tons of RBD palmolein oil, to be delivered between July-August.

Bids would close on June 23 and the decision on the tender would be taken on the same day, the company said on its website.

According to the tender, the bidder should import RBD palmolein from Indonesia or Malaysia. The bids should be made for the entire quantity.

However, the bidder also has an option to quote for additional quantity in multiples of 500 tons, it said.

MMTC said the first lot of 6,000 tons each should be discharged at Kakinada and Paradeep ports between July 15-25, while the second lot of 6,000 tons at Kakinada between July-August period.

India, the world's biggest edible oil importer after China, imports almost half of its annual consumption of around 11 mn tonnes. It buys palm oil from Malaysia and Indonesia and soyaoil from Brazil and Argentina.
