NEW DELHI : State-owned trading firm MMTC invited bids for sale of 8,900 tons of imported pulses in the domestic market.
The company plans to sell 8,000 tons of black mapte (urad) and 900 tons of desi chick peas (chana) sourced from Myanmar and Australia respectively, MMTC said on its website.
The bids would close on July 15 and the decision on the tender would be taken by July 18, it said.
The minimum bid quantity for black mapte would be 1,000 tons, while for desi chick peas 100 tons.
The government buys on an average 14-15 lakh tons of pulses from abroad to bridge the demand-supply gap in the country.
Currently, pulses output stands over 15 million tons against demand of 18 million tons.
