COIMBATORE: Tea prices witnessed a mixed trend in the Coimbatore auction held last week, trade sources said.

With fair demand, best orthodox nilgiris leaf tended dearer by Rs one to Rs 1.50, while ctc leaf ruled lower by Rs one to Rs two per kg, with some withdrawals.

Nominal orthodox dusts witnessed irregular market, though internal buyers and a few exporters operated, while medium ctc dust was fully firm to marginally dearer by Rs.one per kg, the sources said today.

Best orthodox high grown brokens quoted at Rs 72 to Rs 89, medium broken Rs 46 to Rs 47, while good ctc brokens at Rs 49 to Rs 51, fannings at Rs 48 to Rs 50 and medium ctc brokens at Rs 43 to Rs 47 and fannings Rs 43 to Rs 48.

Best ctc dust ruled at Rs 58 to Rs 66, good at Rs 52 to Rs 59, medium at Rs 45 to Rs 48.50, while medium orthodox dust Rs 35 to Rs 47 per kg, they said.

Of the total offerings of 6.35 lakh kgs, dust comprised 3.4 lakh kg.
